STARWOOD HOTELS & RESORTS CELEBRATE ONE YEAR OF TV BROADCASTING IN EUROPE, AFRICA & MIDDLE EAST

Starwood Hotels & Resorts celebrates one year of TV broadcasting in its hotels in Europe, Africa and Middle East. Starwood Preferred Guest Television (SPGTV) is the lifestyle TV channel available on channel 1 in all 176 Starwood hotels in the region since January 2004

With an editorially led cut ensured by the 112 PR representatives of Starwood in Europe, Africa and Middle East, always searching for interesting events, news angles and passionate people in every destination, SPGTV is an exciting 2 hour TV programme on travel, gastronomy, fashion, design, sport, history, architecture, destinations, events and, most of all, about Starwood people, reflecting the diversity and passion that drives every day’s commitment of Starwood associates.

“Our objective is not to self celebrate the quality of our products,” says Roeland Vos, President of Starwood Europe, Africa and Middle East Division, “but to open a new communication channel with our customers in order to offer emotional experiences in key destinations of this beautiful part of the world. Reports from the guest surveys confirm the popularity that SPGTV has gained in its first year of broadcast. 83% of the customers reported to have seen the programme, 60% said it was in their top 3 channel choice while staying in the hotels. Over 30% of the audience said they watched SPGTV for 15 to 30 minutes and an outstanding 24% said they watched for more than 30 minutes.

The quality of the programme and the guests’ very positive response has also convinced quality partners of Starwood to join in this communication effort and support the creation of interesting content and information on the bi-monthly editions of SPGTV.

 Starwood Hotels & Resorts celebrates 4 years of its TV channel, SPG.TV. Available in all Starwood hotels in Europe, Africa and Middle East, Starwood Preferred Guest Television is completely dedicated to Starwood guests and is the first TV channel ever featured in a hotel company.

Since February 2004, SPG.TV has been Starwood in-house television program, a real window on various situations, describing news, destinations, people, stories and events.
Available on Channel 1 in all Tv sets in every room of a Starwood hotels in the EAME division, Starwood Preferred Guest Television is a 2 hours long program which runs on loop for 2 months.

Starwood beautiful and dreamy hotels are part of the program as well as our partners and preferred sponsors in order to keep our guest community informed on our services and products although they are not the real protagonist. SPG.TV aims to be a bi- monthly informative, interesting and international program on what is happening around and about Starwood world.

The journalistic cut of the channel is granted by the EAME Pr Network, always searching for interesting events, new angles and passionate people in every destination and areas. The exciting result is a TV program on the news, about travel, gastronomy, fashion, design, sport, history, architecture, destinations, events and, most of all, about Starwood people, reflecting the different accents and the diversity of Starwood associates and the passion that drives their every day commitment.

From Portugal to Poland, from South Africa to Scotland SPG.TV has been chosen by a large customer group: the reports from the survey say that SPG.TV was switched on by 83% of those questioned and 60% of the audience said it was in the top 3 of their favorite channels. Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide EAME lifestyle TV Channel, SPGTV, has been awarded the World Luxury Award 2007 in the category Hotels & Holidays for creative excellence in Luxury Communication.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts launches SPGTV.NET a website based on the TV productions of SPGTV the first lifestyle TV channel designed by a hotel industry and presently broadcasting in Europe Africa and Middle East in more than 280 hotels and resorts, with individually tailored versions for each of the company brands.
